The Centre
The Centre Project was opened in 1996 to serve the lonely, vulnerable and single people of the city centre. Our aim is to make people feel valued and to meet individual needs. We offer companionship, people to talk to, basic skills groups with qualifications, cheap meals, activities, outings and also host a special needs group.
The Centre does not distribute handouts, but encourages users to live within their own resources so they can move towards genuine and successful independence. When anyone gains employment and no longer needs our support, or when someone whose disabilities confine them long term to life on benefit tells us they feel valued, then we know the Centre has been successful.
More recently, we have introduced access to counseling and reflexology. In addition, there is now access to the Computer room and the Internet.
For more details of the work of the Centre and a timetable of activities, please visit the Centre website. The Centre adjoins the church.
Please do come down, try out the activities and make new friends.
