'or God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3 v.16

I was very aware that God was drawing me back to a closer relationship with Him. A verse that came to mean a great deal to me was Jeremiah 31 verse 3 "I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with loving kindness, I will build you up again."

Pastoral Letters - June 2010

How often do we daydream and say 'if only' and 'when this happens everything will be alright.' I always imagined life when retirement came would be slower! I got that one wrong!

By the end of the year 2000 all the dreams that I had had vanished. Various things had happened during that year and by the Christmas I was feeling very confused and isolated. God had well and truly taken me out of my comfort zone and I felt I had lost everything. The months that followed were very difficult and very much a learning curve. I knew that within me there was still a spark of faith. Though it burned low, God taught me many lessons on forgiveness and healing. As the healing began to take place, I was very aware that God was drawing me back to a closer relationship with Him. A verse that came to mean a great deal to me was Jeremiah 31 verse 3 "I have loved you with an everlasting love, I have drawn you with loving kindness, I will build you up again." God has more than fulfilled that promise and I am finding life seems to get busier.

During this time without a Minister, it is easy as a Church for us to lose our way and to take our eyes off the goal that Jesus has set us. As we start a new Church Year, may it be with a deeper commitment to Christ and His Church as we seek to serve Him.

Every blessing
