For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3 v.16

What I am really feeling is that it is nurture not nature that makes us like our adoptive parents.

Praise God He has adopted us.

Minister 's Letter - June 2008

Picture of the minister, Chris White Dear Friends

He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention to His will.
(Ephesians 1:5)

I wonder what adoption means to you. To me personally it is very precious and so wonderful that God the Father wants to adopt us. Adoption seems to be a thread through our lives as a family. Peter's mum was adopted from a workhouse at the age of six, a little girl crippled by polio given the home she never thought she would have. I was adopted after my unmarried mother with much heart searching saw it as the right thing for me. As some of you will know, when our four natural children were aged twenty down to fourteen we adopted two boys.

There is a point to this story. As I grew up, people who had no reason to know about my early life would stop me in the street to tell me how like my father I was in looks as well as ways. When all our family is together we see the same sense of humour and even facial expressions, all so like each other and often their father too. What I am really feeling is that it is nurture not nature that makes us like our adoptive parents.

Praise God He has adopted us.

God Bless,
Wendy Chapman, Church Secretary

Our minister Chris White (you probably guessed the picture is not Wendy) will be back next month.
