'or God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3 v.16

During this season of Lent ,when we reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter, could we also think and pray about how we can offer our time, talents and care to enhance the work of our church community?

Pastoral Letters - March 2010

Picture of the minister, Chris White Dear Friends,

In the last few weeks we have been wonderfully challenged by a mini series of sermons on the Holy Spirit. We have been encouraged to realise how the power and love of the Holy Spirit can work in our lives.

We face an important decision in the near future on the appointment of a new Minister. Those of us who have committed ourselves to take on the responsibility of being church members will wish to be involved in who we appoint to take us forward in our witness. If you are a church member and it is at all possible for you to attend Church Meetings, please do so. Anyone who worships with us regularly but who is not a church member is very welcome to come along to observe and listen, but cannot vote on issues raised.

At the Church Meeting held on the 23rd February, our Church Secretary, on behalf of the Diaconate, reported that several nominations had been received for our ministerial vacancy. We are now awaiting a response from two people whom God seemed to point towards as possible new Ministers for his work here. Please continue to pray for them and for us all here at Central. We can only get the right person if we allow God through his Holy Spirit to lead us.

We have also been inspired to consider how we can serve through the power and love of the Holy Spirit. Jesus demonstrated his serving heart in a practical way by washing his disciples' feet, and he challenges us to follow his example of loving service. A children's address during Morning Worship recently highlighted the many varied skills that we all have. There are many jobs that need doing in and around the church.

Eric Waweru has expressed his thoughts about the future of the Centre Project in an article in this month's church magazine. It's a very exciting and challenging time for the Centre as it responds to the on-going needs of the vulnerable and lonely people in our community.

During this season of Lent ,when we reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter, could we also think and pray about how we can offer our time, talents and care to enhance the work of our church community?

In Christ
