Galatians 1:1-24

The Apostle Paul’s reason for writing to the Galatian churches can be found in Galatians 1:6-7. Galatians 1:11-24 is essentially Paul giving his testimony. Here we see recorded Paul’s life before he met Jesus, his conversion by grace (his Jesus moment), his calling, and his life as a result. In giving his testimony Paul is laying out his credentials to support his claim that the gospel he previously proclaimed to the Galatians is the true gospel from which they are now turning away (Galatians 1:6). As part of his testimony Paul explains how he ‘went into Arabia’ (Galatians 1:17). This week’s sermon suggests that Paul went there to find solitude and quiet so that he could spend time with God in order to investigate his new God given mission to share the true gospel with the Gentiles.

So, this week we considered the question of ‘where is your desert place?’ This does not refer to a literal desert, rather it is metaphorical. How would you answer this question? For example, is your desert place a chair, a room, a closet? Where could this place be for you if you don’t already have one?
